Floyd Mayweather has defended Justin Bieber after an old video of the singer making racist jokes surfaced earlier this week.
The five-division boxing world champion posted a picture of himself and Bieber on Instagram and said that he respected the popstar.
“Justin has been nothing but kind to me, my daughters and sons over the years,” he said.
“We all make mistakes when we are young, it’s part of growing up.”
He added: I am proud of what he’s doing as a 20-year-old musician and businessman.”
Bieber apologised after the controversial video was made public.
“Thanks to friends and family I learned from my mistakes and grew up and apologised for those wrongs,” Bieber said in a lengthy post on Twitter.
“Now that these mistakes from the past have become public, I need to apologise again to all those I have offended.”
He continued: “I’m very sorry. I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologise for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake.”
