It’s such a sorrowful moment for the journalism community worldwide.
This follows the death of Ugandan-based, Spanish – Mexican freelance photojournalist female journalist Sumaya Carrasco Sadurni alias Sumy Sadurni.
The 32-year-old was involved in a hit and run fatal car accident with a truck in along Kampala – Gulu Highway in Kiryadongo District on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Sumy was a journalist, photographer and videographer based in Kampala, Uganda covering the East Africa region.
Her work primarily focused on international current affairs, human rights, gender issues, conflicts and social issues, which she is famously known for having attempted with a brave character.
The international journalist presented essence scenes from all her spheres of coverage that undoubtably sparked her fame.
Some of Sumy’s publications are evident in; The New York Times, BBC World Service, The Washington Post, CNN, France 24, among others.
Her affiliations were Women Photograph, International Women Media Foundation (IWMF) Great Lakes Reporting Fellow, Foreign Correspondents Association of Uganda (FCAU), and many more.
The deceased lived and/or worked in numerous countries such as; Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Chile, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
As of today, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, multitudes of condolences are still pilling up on social media and mainstream media platforms for the Late Sumy.
