Tom Okwalinga must be a happy man after the Management of Facebook denied the Uganda government and security agents access to Tom Okwalinga’s account. Tom Okwalinga is a rabid critic of the government on Facebook who keeps releasing classified information.

Okwalinga claims to be an insider in government. However, Nina Mbabazi, daughter to the Prime Minister believes he’s someone who left government and is trying to hit back. Other sources believe that “Okwalinga” is former political intelligence boss in President’s office, Charles Rwomushana, a charge he denies. Okwalinga is known for accusing every big shot of gigantic regrettable crimes.

This week, he was on the neck of Daily Monitor’s investigative writer whom he accused of receiving a bribe of 50m from Presidency Minister, Frank Tumwebaze to tarnish Gen.Sejusa’s name. Chris Obore did a story in which a certain Forex Bureau was closed down over exchanging 20 billion in cash for Gen.Sejusa.

Facebook rejected the request by Ugandan government reveal the account data of two facebook users. This comes just months after Security Minister Muruli Mukasa revealed that government was in the final stages of setting up a social media monitoring unit to follow social media discussions and weed out people damaging the reputation of government and its officials.

It now seems, Tom Okwalinga is Uganda’s anonymous Julian Assange.
