A new paint company, Plascon recently emerged on the market. This after they bought out Sadolin Paints, which had been the biggest paint company for the last 55 years in Uganda.
However, Sadolin has re-emerged on the market, and this has caused confusion among the masses.
So, who is Plascon?
In August, Kansai Plascon Africa Limited, a subsidiary of Kansai Paint in Japan, concluded an agreement to buy the Sadolin Paints operations in Uganda and other East African countries. Sadolin being a trade name that belonged to Akzo Nobel, the previous partners, it had to rebrand all products to Plascon.
The paints now carry the brand name, Plascon but they are still manufactured to the same standards and locally at Namanve.
“The Paint remains exactly the same, made using the same standards, processes and by the same people. It is only the name of the product that has changed.” A Plascon official stated. “Our prices are going to remain the same. Same price for the same great product.”
Plascon continues to sell a range of products which include a wide range of decorative paints, industrial paints and auto paints.
Meanwhile, Akzo Nobel, who are the owners of the Sadolin brand, have partnered with Regal Paints to re-launch the Sadolin brand. With this new partnership, Regal Paints is now filling the Sadolin branded tins.
