The national football team of Uganda, the Mighty Cranes, has today Thursday morning set off from Istanbul in Turkey to Morocco for a do-or-die match ahead in World Cup qualifiers against Senegal on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Cranes’ fans that are set to travel to the same destination with State House funded jet have already paid the mandatory $120 to cater for visas and match entry tickets, according to FUFA records officer Haruna Kyobe.
The Cranes’ media Officer, Katende Malibu revealed that the players completed their night training session yesterday at 9:30pm (East African time) and went on to attend a dinner organised by Ugandans in Istanbul.
Katende went ahead to say, “today morning before departure to Morocco, the team had to go for gym work and check out of the hotel by 10am (East African time) for the 12pm flight.” The Cranes team is expected to be recieved by Mujib Kasule, who is in the advance team in Marrakesh at 5pm.
Coach Micho was also expected to name the final 21 man squad after the Wednesday night training in Turkey and in attendance was former Sports Minister, Henry Okello Oryem, where he was reportedly spoilt with choice.
While in Marrakesh, the team will do some training for acclimatization purposes.
