American-based midfielder Mike Azira was among the last batch of arrivals to the Cranes training camp in Istanbul on Tuesday as coach Micho Sredojevic continues to prepare the team for this Saturday’s must-win World Cup qualifying decider against Senegal.
According to Cranes media officer Fred Katende, Azira’s earlier scheduled flight on Tuesday was cancelled due to hitches beyond his control but the former SC Villa midfielder later finally joined his teammates in Istanbul.
“I’m ready to give 100% if given a chance on Saturday,” said Azira upon arrival. Other new arrivals include Sweden-based Martin Mutumba, Isaac Isinde and Robert Ssentongo from Ethiopia, and Henry Kalungi from the US.
Tonny Mawejje (Iceland) and skipper Andy Mwesigwa (Kazakhstan) also entered camp in Istanbul on Tuesday while Kizito Luwagga (Portugal) was expected later in the evening to complete a full house.
Micho will name the final 21 players out the 25 before the team connects to Morocco on Thursday.
