Uganda Cranes up and coming defender Savio Kabugo is undergoing trials with PSL side Bidvest Wits University.

Leon Ssenyange, the Media manager of SC Victoria University, confirmed to MTNFootball.com that the defender was already in South Africa for trials.

“After his good performance in the Fufa Super league, the Uganda Cup and also the national team, Savio has earned himself chance for trials and hopefully he performs well,” added Ssenyange.

The steady defender helped SC Victoria University win the Uganda Cup and also finish fifth in FUFA Super League. He made his debut for the national team in an international friendly against Rwanda this year and also played in another build-up away to Libya.

Cranes Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic also said the player is a great talent and should be featuring in the paid ranks.

“He is a good young player who will be an asset to Uganda,” added Micho.

Although he has been part of the Cranes team in the 2014 World Cup campaign, he is yet to feature in any of the games.

If he is successful with the trials at Bidvest Wits University, he will join other Ugandan players currently featuring in the PSL like Denis Onyango and Postnet Omony.

Former Kaizer Chief and Cranes winger David Obua is also expected in South Africa this week to join University of Pretoria for pre-season training before his signing.
