Like many Ugandans, I remain stunned at the manner in which Golola Moses dispatched his soldier nemesis Titus Tugume in less than a minute in their title clash at Freedom City on Friday. Hardly had fans taken their seats when Tugume’s jaws touched the converse in embarrassing fashion. Yes people, the soldier’s jaws were treated to a left hook by the motor mouthed kickboxer. The match was finished in less than a minute to the chagrin of supporters. They were left cursing and felt cheated in a way because they felt the two were going to have a long bout but it wasn’t to be. So did the fans get their money’s worth? Not a single cent.
Okay guys let’s get this straight. Titus isn’t your average fighter. Over the last few months, the guy had built himself a decent resume in the world of kickboxing. He left several handprints on opposition faces Malik Kaliisa, Sylvia Owori’s toy boy being the biggest culprit. So how the Uganda Kickboxing Champion Titus went down with his tongue wagging is very questionable.Tugume is built well and I strongly doubt one punch could have done so much damage.
The prematch antics of Tugume procuring a coffin gave me the confidence to affirm that he was going to put up a spirited fight. I mean this is a guy who had promised to ‘bury’ Golola but only managed a weak kick at Golola who replied in quick fashion to send the soldier crashing with head on the floor.
My instincts tell me the match was FIXED. I am almost convinced Tugume and Golola had a small chit chat before the game to fix the result. We all know Golola needed his image revamped and a first round victory would restore bragging rights so he went for the kill and Tugume acted the victim and collapsed.
With all due respect to the person of Golola Moses, I didn’t see him beating let alone demolish Tugume in the manner he did. A fighter of repute couldn’t just be beaten after a few seconds. I still believe that these two robbed us. I anticipate a rematch otherwise what we saw at Freedom City was a probable sham.
