The eagerly awaited fixture between Uganda Premier League (UPL) defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) and 16-time record league champions Sports Club Villa that was dubbed the ‘clash of the titans’ has been called off. The fixture was due Friday 6th at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The news also comes after another fixture between Vipers and Soana that was scheduled to be played yesterday (Tuesday, 3rd March) at the Buikwe Stadium was called off.

The fixtures have been called off to give ample time to the Uganda Under-23 national team, the Kobs, who are preparing for their return league against Mozambique in the All Africa games qualifiers that is scheduled for Saturday 7th March 2015 at the Nakivubo Stadium where entrance fee will be 5,000/- for ordinary and 20,000/- for  VIP. Congolese referees were assigned to preside of the game come Saturday.

Some of the teams whose games have been postponed have a couple of players on the U-23 national team.

The industrious William Wadri, attacking midfielder Tom Masiko, Martin Kizza, Derrick Nsibambi, Simon Namwanja, Paul Mucureezi, Isaac Ntege, and Baker Lukooya are the KCCA players on the Kobs’ team while Vipers have 2015 January signing Julius Malingumu, Farouk Miya (Kobs’ captain), Kizito Keziron and goalkeeper Ismail Watenga.
