Jose Chameleone who was disrupted by URA agents as he tested sound systems for his show last Friday is still fighting to get back his Escalade. URA was demanding 42 million shillings in tax arrears, the ‘Badilisha’ singer managed to clear the biggest part of the money, however, his car was impounded until he clears the balance.
“We have attached Jose Chameleone’s Escalade because of failure to pay taxes but after discussions with Chameleone, he has agreed to come to our offices on Monday to clear his tax arrears. Thereafter we shall release his car.” URA had earlier posted on their Facebook timeline.
But up to now, the singer has not yet cleared the amount. If Jose Chameleone fails to clear Shs 7.3m that he still owes Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) before the end of the day today April 4, 2014, his car will be auctioned. URA says the grace period it gave Chameleone will end today. They will have then auction the car in order to recover their taxes.
URA says that Chameleone accumulated Shs 42m in income and Value Added taxes from his previous shows and despite several reminders since November last year, the singer failed to turn up.
