Cavendish University opened its gates to the general public on Saturday in its first ever open day in a bid to connect with their neighboring community.
The event which was held at their main campus located in Nsambya was intended to sensitize the public on the importance of attaining quality education as well as producing individuals who are market relevant in terms of employable skills.
This was re-echoed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. John Mugisha as he welcomed visitors who turned up for the open day, adding that they will continue to hold a series of similar functions in the course of the year.

“We are having this open day function to connect with the community around us. We want them to discover who we are and what we do,” Prof. John Mugisha stated.
“There is a lot that we are offering, but there is one special thing that we offer called a University foundation program. If you do not get enough points in secondary school to take you straight to a degree program, you can do this foundation program for one year allowing you to transition to a degree program. The program opens up several avenues for you upon completion allowing you to pursue any degree program.” He added.

The event involved different activities that included guided tour of university premises, career guidance and motivational talks among others.
