The good news reaching our desk indicates that Carol Atuhirwe, a cancer patient at Mulago Hospital, is set to be flown to India for treatment. This comes a few weeks after Carol’s hopes to travel to USA for operation as earlier planned were cancelled after visiting surgeons from USA concluded that her condition requires close care and it should be handled from here.
However, the initial team from USA which could no longer carry out surgery on Carol advised the Uganda Cancer Institute to find an alternative international health facility to handle her case something that has finally been done.
We have learnt that the healthy facility has been secured in India, Carol’s request for referral generated and anytime from now she will be flown to India after her travel documents are completely processed.
