In a press conference held at Lubaga Hospital, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine has announced the burial arrangements for the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, former Member of Parliament for Kawempe North.
According to Bobi Wine, the late Ssegirinya’s body will be honored by the Parliament of Uganda on Friday, January 10, 2025. Burial is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Masaka District.
Bobi Wine revealed that the family of the deceased has requested Islamic religious leaders to delay the burial until other family members abroad can return to the country.
The late Hon. Ssegirinya was officially pronounced dead on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
He had been admitted to Lubaga Hospital under intensive care after his health significantly deteriorated in recent weeks.
Hon. Ssegirinya’s health challenges have been well-documented, especially following his imprisonment, which led to repeated hospital admissions over the last three years.
Famously known as “Mr. Updates,” Hon. Ssegirinya was celebrated for his remarkable contributions and progress in Kawempe North.
His leadership and dedication to his constituency left a lasting impression on the people he served.
Despite his lighthearted and comical character, Ssegirinya was a committed leader whose impact will not be easily forgotten.
