Ugandan dancehall sensation Beenie Gunter, known off-stage as Crescent Baguma, has been granted release on bail after spending six days in a prison in Abu Dhabi.

The artist, detained since Sunday, 21st January 2023, encountered legal trouble while attempting to board a flight back to Uganda from a Dubai airport alongside his partner, Nickie Berry.

However, despite his release on bond, he remains unable to return home due to a travel ban imposed in the aftermath of his arrest.

The arrest stemmed from an altercation between two Ugandan promoters in the UAE, in which Beenie Gunter allegedly found himself embroiled.

Accusations of violent behavior and property damage led to his transfer to Abu Dhabi for detention. As the legal proceedings unfold, the dancehall star’s fate hinges on his legal team’s ability to present a compelling case before the judge on 18th February 2024.

Beenie Gunter’s team is working diligently to secure his return to Uganda. Plans are underway to petition for a pardon, seeking clemency from the authorities to lift the travel ban and allow him to reunite with his family.
