Uganda National Musicians Federation president, Eddy Kenzo, has taken a strong stance in support of fellow Ugandan singer Beenie Gunter, who recently found himself entangled in legal troubles in Abu Dhabi.
In a heartfelt social media post, Kenzo revealed his determination to secure Beenie Gunter’s release and ensure justice prevails.
Having already initiated contact with H.E. Zaake W. Kibedi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the United Arab Emirates, Eddy Kenzo expressed his commitment to resolving the matter promptly.
Kenzo, in his role as the Federation’s President, aims to see his fellow artist freed from custody and those responsible for the alleged crimes held accountable.
Beenie Gunter, whose real name is Crescent Baguma, was arrested at a Dubai airport while attempting to return to Uganda with his baby mama and girlfriend, Nickie Berry.
The arrest followed a dispute between music promoters that escalated into a physical altercation, leading to property damage. The singer was subsequently transferred to Abu Dhabi, accused of his involvement in the brawl.
The incident unfolded on January 8th, 2024, when Beenie Gunter was scheduled to perform in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Eddy Kenzo, called for solidarity among fellow artists, emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent similar incidents in the future and preached unity.
