Ashley Cole is to be quizzed over claims he assaulted a TV presenter in a nightclub.
The Chelsea star, 33, in the US after being overlooked for England’s World Cup squad, allegedly threw champagne over Donatella Panayiotou, yelling: “You know what this is for!” – sparking a furious bust-up
Cops are investigating.
The 33-year-old, who is partying in Los Angeles on a lads’ holiday after not being picked by Roy Hodgson for the World Cup, is to be quizzed by the LAPD in connection with an alleged “battery”, the US equivalent of assault.
Celebrities including rapper Drake and R&B singer Brandy were among a host of VIPs who turned out to celebrate basketball star Nick Young’s 29th birthday at the exclusive Toxic Day Party in trendy Hollywood nightclub Lure.
Cole, best mate Shaun Wright-Phillips and around a dozen other pals had tickets for the bash, where clubbers glugged £1,000 bottles of champagne and downed £24 shots of vodka.
But just hours in came the flashpoint between Cole and MTV girl Donatella, 29 – who reportedly once had a tryst with Man City winger Scott Sinclair.
Dozens of stunned revellers witnessed the incident – with one saying it resembled a “saloon bar brawl”.
The clubber said: “The whole bust-up came out of nowhere.
“Ashley’s group were spending a fortune knocking back the drinks. At one point Ashley and Donatella were at the same table and drinking happily.”
But later in the evening Donatella claims things turned sour when Cole suddenly confronted her and poured champagne over her head, yelling: “You know what that is for!”
Our witness added: “Donatella was stunned by his outburst. They went at each other and had to be separated.”
Millionaire’s daughter Donatella, who also starred in ITV series Young, Posh and Loaded, is believed to have slapped Cole in the face during the row.
Incensed she could be heard screaming: ‘I’ve never done anything to you. Who the f*** do you think you are?’”
The spat spilled outside before both stormed off in opposite directions, still hurling abuse.
Donatella has now contacted LAPD, claiming Cole confronted her in a nightclub and poured champagne over her head.
She has also told officers she was pushed and shoved during the bust-up, which she says ended with her throat piercing being ripped out.
Donatella is no stranger to being around high-profile stars after interviewing countless musicians for the music station, as well as partying with Rita Ora, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent.
