The Federation Of Performing Arts, has released a notice addressed to Uganda Broadcasters Association, concerned artistes, radio and television media houses, Uganda Performance Rights Association, ordering the concerned parties to stop playing all songs of the late Elly Wamala that were re-done by artistes without legal consent.

According to Benon Kibuuka, president of the federation, the move is in coherence with the copy right law and was sparked by a public outcry of members of the late Wamala family asking artistes to seek legal consent, and pay them, before going to reap from their son’s creativity.

Songs forwarded to be deleted from all media houses in both audio and video format include; “ANI YALI AMANYI” by GNL, “VIOLA” by GEOSTEADY and “EBINYUMA EBYAFEE” by DON MC.

However, the family of the late Elly Wamala has expressed appreciation for the love the public has for the late, a true lyrical classic legend.
