Alex Isabirye renounced his role as Bul Football Club head coach last week on Friday following a major decision executed by the club management without his knowledge.
Isabirye’s resignation came just a day after he learnt of the sacking of some of his coaching assistants without his prior knowledge or consultation, a decision that left him bemused, gutted and also undermined as a decision maker at the club.
“The working environment has been hostile and I can no longer hold on the post. I felt very embarrassed, undermined, emotional name it all. When I asked Kato (2nd assistant) why he wasn’t changing only for him to surprise me that he had just received a message telling him to stop working,” coach Isabirye is quoted on ChimpSport.
On the same day, he also learnt that his goalkeeping coach Bright Dhaira, father to the late Abel Dhaira had also be sacked by the club through a phone message, still without his consent.
Isabirye is one of Uganda’s most highly rated coaches having won the league title with URA FC in 2011, Super Cup and the Uganda Cup. He also won the Uganda Cup with Sports Club Victoria University in 2012/2013.
He joined the Jinja based side at the start of the 2015/2016 season but now quits after serving only half of his contract.
