Uganda’s Telecom giant, Airtel Uganda recently joined hands with The Hind’s Feet Project in an effort to improve the wellbeing of the Kabale community and empower people with the basic health information and services they need to make appropriate health decisions.
Stationed at Kasheregyenyi Primary School, Airtel Uganda invited residents of Kamuganguzi Sub County and surrounding areas to a free health fair which went on from 7:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday 8th November 2014. At the fair that attracted approximately 1600 people, free health services that included dental, eye, general medicine, screening for HIV, diabetes, ulcers, blood pressure, sexually transmitted diseases, malaria, hepatitis B and cervical cancer were provided. The health fair also included safe male circumcision.

“Airtel Uganda aims to improve the general lives of Ugandans, not only by providing them with affordable and reliable telecommunications solutions, but also by increasing knowledge on general health and the use of preventive health services to help Ugandans make the right health decisions,” commented Airtel Uganda Finance Director, Mr. Phanindra Nichanametia when asked why Airtel had chosen to be part of this health fair.
“It is by taking part in initiatives which directly impact our consumers’ lives that Airtel will achieve the vision of becoming the most loved brand in the daily lives of Ugandans,” he added.
During this health fair, the Hind’s Feet Project engaged community leaders to establish a customized community health outreach program and all the health services were provided by volunteers in partnership with local health organizations.
