The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) remains a big doubt on the continent though qualifiers continue to take their course. The developments follow an outbreak of the lethal Ebola virus that has continuously tormented the western part of the African continent.
The previously selected hosts Morocco have totally refused to host the event for reasons cornering the Ebola virus.
“The decision is dictated by health reasons because of the serious threat of Ebola and the risk of its spreading,” said Morocco’s sports ministry.
Since then the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has tried to reach out to several nations like South Africa and Ghana who have also rejected the offer.
Many countries that have been contacted by CAF to host the tournament have rejected the offer stating that hosting the tournament will be throwing a dice with death. It seems no country is ready to throw caution to the wind.
