Airtel Uganda, the biggest supporter of football in Uganda and main sponsor of the Uganda Cranes, has today launched a new campaign that will see the telecom company give away over 5,000 tickets, Ugx 53 Million and 8 brand new cars ahead of Uganda Cranes’ tie against Comoros in the final round of group matches in the AFCON qualifiers slated for 3rd September at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.
The 53-day promotion, which is aimed at building the Ugandan patriotic and nationalistic pride firmly rooted in the Ugandan Cranes team that is on the edge of qualifying for 2017 AFCON, will see Airtel customers stand a chance of being one of the lucky winners by simply recharging Airtel airtime.
Speaking at the launch of the promotion, Airtel Uganda’s head Brand & Communications, Remmie Kisakye said; “it has been 39 years since Uganda qualified for AFCON and come 3rd September, we are very optimistic that the team will make history and qualify,” noting that this promotion intends to mobilize all Ugandans to come and show support for the national team.
“Over a period of the next 53 days towards the game, we will give away 100 tickets daily, UGX 1,000,000 cash daily and a brand new car weekly. All our subscribers have to do is recharge today through Airtel Money, e-recharge or using a voucher and they will stand a chance to win. It’s time to recharge our passion for our team,” she added.
She concluded by reiterating that all lucky winners will only be contacted on mobile number – 0752 600 200 and cautioned the public to beware of fraudsters.
Over the years, Airtel Uganda has introduced and sponsored different campaigns aimed at building the talent base and love for football in Uganda. Some of these include, the annual Airtel Rising Stars tournament that builds football from the grassroots and the Uganda Cranes Regional Tours that aim at growing thelove Ugandans have for their national team.
