Coke studio brings together Africa’s finest artistes not considering their race, language, culture or genre. The studio is determined to create a modern and authentic African sound through musical fusion. During the launch, guests were treated to free musical instruments like drums and shakers among others. Coke Studio Africa was launched on the Wednesday of 02nd October at Zone 7.
Uganda’s representatives, Lillian Mbabazi, Sebunjo and Qwela showcased what they had produced while at the studio in Nairobi. Other artistes include MI (Nigeria) and Salif Keita (Mali).
According to Brand Manager Coca Cola Uganda, Mr. Brandon Ssemanda, Coke Studio will be aired on NTV every Saturday evening at 8pm.
He further revealed that they chose NTV because it is the biggest television station in Uganda and this show appeals to its viewers. The show will provide viewers with behind the scenes; look into the artiste’s interactions and experiences on set.
“We spent one week in Nairobi and my experience there was out of this world. It was great working with artistes of different genres and musicality. We were given a special treat while in the studio; it made me feel like music is worthwhile. And I think most artistes are going to learn a lot from it,” Lillian Mbabazi said about the project.
Big ups to Coke Cola for the bringing together African artistes.
