This July, ACD Arts (African Cultural Development) will host Ngoma Za Ngoma, an electrifying Ugandan and African traditional live music and dance show, in London, UK.

The event promises to immerse audiences in the vibrant rhythms, movements, and stories of African culture, celebrating Uganda’s rich heritage and broader African traditions.

The term Ngoma carries deep significance across African cultures. It commonly refers to:

  • Musical Instrument: A drum crafted from hollowed wood and animal skins, central to African music and varying in shape, tone, and use.
  • Dance and Performance: Traditional dances connected to rituals, ceremonies, and festivals, blending drumming, singing, and storytelling through movement.
  • Cultural and Social Events: Community gatherings centered on drumming and dance, often marking milestones like weddings, religious ceremonies, and communal celebrations.

Overall, Ngoma symbolizes artistic expression, cultural identity, and spiritual connection across African societies.
