4 Things that really change once you get married

Coup 6

It is only normal everything to feel different once you get married. However as much as people warn us, sometimes it is hard to see what will really change. You will still be with the same person, you will still be you, yet people claim that things will be different. Well, they will be. Minor little changes that will grow on you. Here are the top four things that turned around when I got hitched, and I bet you’ll relate to these too.

1. Your relationship with each other:

One of the most awkward conversations post marriage happened when we had to introduce each other as our spouses. We’d invariable say fiancé or my girlfriend or boyfriend before correcting ourselves. Apart from that, your relationship with each other changes big time. You are now more accountable to each other, you will find yourself taking everyday decisions differently keeping in mind that your new partner and you will start to function better as a team, and as a family.

2. Your relationship with the world:

The world will view you differently the moment you get married. You will become the responsible bhabhi from the very fun didi, and no matter how often you correct them, little kids will now call you aunty. *screams silently*. Your friends will also view you a little differently now, party plans will automatically be with a plus one and if you are the only married couple in the gang, open up your house to weekend parties, and yourself to becoming the agony aunt for all relationship troubles.

3. The way you view other’s relationships:

Sorry to break this to you but being a “smug married” is a real thing. You might not be as bad as looking down on people who aren’t married yet, but that little feeling in your stomach when you hear about men who are breaking your friends’ hearts, and that feeling of security and relief that your man is not so bad, is going to bring a smile on your face.

4. The way you fight:

Because breaking-up is not such an easy option anymore, you will notice a difference in the way you fight. You will try to resolve things, pick lesser fights and not storm out of the home very often. Basically, you just adult better.
