No matter how happy, or easy going your relationship is, there will be periods where you simply cannot feel the butterflies anymore. Don’t worry, every relationship goes through this rollercoaster ride. However what’s important is that you fix these issues at the right time. Give your relationship your hundred percent to make it work and to help you along the way, here are 7 rules, that may seem minor, but are actually very important rules to keep in mind.
1. Communicate:
Talk, talk and talk some more. No matter how trivial or silly it seems, if something is bothering you, it’s best to let your partner know rather than suffer in silence. You need to work on communicating more, to avoid conflicts and misunderstandings later.
2. Attention:
There will always be a hundred and two things vying for your attention and it’s only natural for you to sometimes, push the relationship aside and deal with everything else. However, you need to put the relationship higher up in the priority list to give it the importance it deserves.
3. Hundred percent:
If you are having problems, make sure you address them right away. Pushing things under the table and hoping they’ll go away, and come back later when you have more time, simply does not work.
4. Intimacy:
This is a given and we are not just talking about sex. You need to be there to hold hands, give a hug or two, and an occasional kiss to let the other person know that you still care.
5. Admit your mistakes:
We all make them, and sometimes it’s easier to admit your mistakes and move on rather than get into a battle of who is right. There will be several times when you’ll mess up and that’s okay as long as you accept responsibility and don’t distribute blame.
6. Self-love:
One of the first and foremost steps to being happy in a relationship comes from being happy yourself. To give your relationship the love it deserves, it’s equally important to make sure you also give enough time to your own self.
7. Space:
This can be hard but you need to step back and give your partner, and yourself space. Let them be who they are without trying to change their selves to fit into your category of perfect.
