Since the beginning of time, people have always wanted to know the secret to living a long life. Death is inevitable but you should at least try your hardest to stay alive for as long as possible. But what should you do in order to avoid dying? Well, according to Scotland’s oldest woman you should eat porridge every day and avoid men.
Jessie Gallan was the oldest woman in Scotland until she died at the age of 109. But before she passed away, she shared her secrets to her long life. Every morning, Gallan enjoys a nice, warm, bowl of oatmeal. She also does her daily exercises and hangs out with her friends.
However one surprising thing about her is that she has never been married. The adorable centenarian revealed her secrets in an interview with The Daily Mail.’My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They’re just more trouble than they’re worth,’ she said. ‘I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.’
Instead of hanging with the guys, she suggests you fill every day with things that you enjoy in life: friends, family, and more. And considering that she lived until 109 years old, she must know what she’s talking about.
Gallan spent most of her life in the service industry and says she has never had to depend on anybody. Although she says she has had her ups and down, she’s done everything all by herself.
‘I always worked hard and seldom would I ever take a holiday. I left home when I was 13 and began a job milking cows,’ she said in an interview with The Daily Mail. ‘I always had good jobs with very nice people. It’s amazing to see how completely different the world is now from the one I grew up in.’
