Mbabazi Charles

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has sacked assistant coach Mbabazi Charles, just a week after the start of the 2016/2017 season.

Kefa Kisala’s deputy has been accused of gross misconduct and absenteeism from duty without official notice on several occasions.

“Mbabazi Charles’ contract has been terminated with immediate effect by the URA Football Club following his gross misconduct and absenteeism from the team’s trainings, matches and other official events on several junctures,” reads part of a statement published on the club’s official Facebook page.

He joined URA in mid-February 2016 after the sacking of the then head coach Moses Basena before Kefa Kisala was elevated to the rank of head coach.

The decision to relieve Mbabazi of his duties at the Tax Collectors’ camp comes after a series of warnings including a board meeting in which he vowed to adjust his behavior when accused with the same charges.

“Mbabazi has appeared and written apologies to the URA FC Board, with the latest being on August 08th 2016. On this date, he appeared to the Club Board for his misconduct and absenteeism. He promised to change or the club terminates his contract,” further read the statement.
