Presided over by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Uganda H.E Zhao Yali, the handover ceremony was held at the Kiruhura sub-county head offices located in Kazo County, Kiruhura district.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Airtel Uganda Networks Director Mr. Rajesh Agrawal thanked the parents and community leaders for their role in ensuring that all the children go to school, even with the inadequate facilities.

“As part of our Adopt A School Program, we have an ICT For Schools Project where we work with chosen partners to furnish disadvantaged schools with computers, dongles and enough data to give them access with the internet and thus better the learning experience of students and their teachers through computer and research skills,” he said, adding that Airtel Uganda believes that quality education is not only the most important tool for the socio-economic development of Uganda but also a vital tool in poverty eradication.

“I would like to pledge Airtel Uganda’s continued support to Ugandan youth by empowering them with the necessary tools to develop themselves, their families and their communities,” he concluded.

Hon. John Nasasira, the outgoing Minister for ICT and founder KAN Foundation thanked Airtel Uganda and Huawei for accepting to partner with KAN foundation to reach out to Kiruhura.

“The KAN foundation is striving to improve E- learning in schools in Kiruhura district. I would like to thank Airtel and Huawei for joining us to make it possible,” he said.
