Following the rumors that circulated early last week that the Ministry of Health had refused to release Carol Atuhirwe’s Visa to go for treatment in USA, the Minister of Health, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has denied these allegations in a statement released over the weekend.

“The Ministry wishes to dismiss false rumors that spread about the sector on the Save Carol Campaign. We are not withholding any supporting documents that are stopping Carol from flying for treatment,” the document said.

They also revealed that the medical council board will be sitting on Tuesday and that all documents will be finalized for her immediate departure for treatment.

This statement was released after rumors claimed that Carol’s VISA processing had been impeded by Ministry of Health.

It should be noted that Carol has been suffering from malignant cancer for the last five years, received support from the public through Save Carol campaign. Last week, Carol held a thanks giving service at All Saints church Nakasero after collecting a total of Shs 324.6million out of Shs 270million she needed and thus decided to donate the excess Shs 54million to the Uganda Cancer Institute.
