Many years back, I was given an assignment to review music videos by my boss. I was still humble, nice and not yet corrupted by the bunkers of this world.
Picture this, I am watching TV and there’s a video premiering. It’s titled “Ice Cream” by Sheebah. There and then, a spark went off in my brain. I knew for certain that this was the much needed catalyst for Sheebah.
For many years after leaving the Obsessions, Sheebah had tried to make her mark without success. I had at one point even written her off. But when the “Ice Cream” song came out, she never looked back. It was then hit after hit. But first, the credit to me giving that video all the five stars.
Back to the main point. Last week, I chanced upon Sheebah Karungi’s “Nkwatako” video. Then it suddenly dawned on me that before my eyes was Uganda’s own Rihanna, if not much better.
Honestly, everything in that video brought out the inner Rihanna that has always hid inside Sheebah.
If Rihanna comes to Uganda and Sheebah is performing on the same day, I will gladly pay twice to Sheebah’s concert.
Now, I am also writing this opinion to let out my feelings for Sheebah. I just want to dance that song together with you Sheebah on our balcony. Especially the line that goes; “baby nkwatako, kano kozze nfiraako…”
So to Uganda’s Rihanna, you know my digits, this is the only chance you have!
