12 Phone Contacts to Delete Before you Start a New Relationship

Woman-texting

You are finally over that ex and ready to put the toxic relationship behind you. But before you log back onto Tinder and decide to go on a blind date, take a moment to reflect on what went wrong in the first place. Apart from you and your partner, there are multiple people in your life who could be holding you back from having a good relationship. Remove them before you step out for a first date.

1. The ex: Especially if you still harbour a soft corner for him. Those drunken nights when you feel lonely are the most dangerous times to have his number on your list.

2. The overly critical friend: We all love honest friends, but if you have one who seems to criticise everything that you do, maybe you need her out of your life. She might be channeling negativity into your relationship via her constant criticism.

3. The friend who likes you: You know it and you stay in touch because it’s flattering to have a man give you so much attention. But honestly leading him on is helping no one.

4. The ultimate crush: You liked him at one point but things never worked out. You are still in touch with him and his messages just make you go all nostalgic. Well, things didn’t work out for a reason. Let him go before you end up comparing your current dates with this non-existent boyfriend.

5. Your friend’s ex: Nah, he is just bad news. The girl code says that no man is really worth spoiling your friendship, especially a man who broke your friend’s heart.

6. That guy who never called back: You had a wild night together, went out on a date, had the best conversation and thought you were soul mates. The problem: he never called back? Don’t sit back hoping that he will come back. He won’t!

7. The ex you broke up with (and got back again): He is your comfort zone and if you don’t find Mr. Right in the next 10 years you can go back to him. But you are probably on your fourth get-back-after-break-up? There are only so many chances you can give someone.

9. The guy you cheated on: You’ve matured a lot since then and you feel really bad. But honestly, getting in touch with him to get closure is just wrong. He was hurt but has probably moved on and you should too.

10. Your cousin’s friend: He is always there at family gatherings and he seems to be really into you. But he is too creepy. Delete him without worrying about hurting his feelings. He isn’t your friend anyway.

11. The friend who is forever hooking you up: She has the best of intentions but all thanks to her you have met enough Mr. Wrongs to put you off dating. It’s okay to block her while you take your time and only meet the guys who you find interesting.

12. The friend who wants to always hang out: She comes over on Saturdays and leaves on Mondays, leaving you with no time to be with yourself and think about meeting a man. If you can’t tell her to give you your space, maybe falling off her radar will send across the message.
