Uganda Cranes has improved by three places to 71st with 478 points in the latest FIFA/Coca Cola football rankings that were released yesterday in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Cranes were ranked 74th last month but have risen to 71st worldwide and are 16th on the African continent. The CECAFA region toppers are away to Comoros for Saturday’s 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
The Amavubi Stars of Rwanda improved by 13 places to be ranked 78th. Rwanda are due to play Ghana at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali tomorrow in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
Uganda’s group D opponents in the AFCON qualifiers, Burkina Faso fell to 73rd place while Botswana and Comoros rank 118th and 190th respectively.
Still on the African continent, Algeria remained in the number one spot and 19th in the world, AFCON reigning champions Cote d’Ivoire are in second spot (21st) while Ghana, Tunisia and Senegal complete the top five and rank 27th, 33rd and 38th in the world respectively.
Argentina lead the global footballing nations, followed by Belgium, Germany, Colombia and Brazil.
