Uganda Cranes skipper Andrew Mwesigwa is desperate for club football after South Africa based side Mamelodi Sundowns revealed that they won’t be signing the iconic defender.
The 31-year-old center back spent a couple of weeks training with the ‘Brazilians’ and took part in the club’s pre-season game. Mwesigwa also travelled with the team during their visit to Zambia.
However, the Mamelodi Sundowns head tactician Pitso Mosimane has revealed that they won’t be signing the ex- FC Ordabasy defender.
“No doubt Andrew is a good player. He is a very good defender but we won’t be signing him. He is just like the other players that we have. We are looking at something different and he is not that player. But he is a good defender,” reads Mosimane’s statement as quoted by Soccerladuma.
The former SC Villa, IBV and Chongqing Lifan defender is now a free agent looking for his next spot in club football.
Mwesigwa was also earlier on turned down by PSL side Bidvest Wits after having had trials with them.
