On the Friday of 9th August, all roads led to Legends bar and restaurant, luggogo where the both gospel and secular hip hopper Ruyonga aka “Ru” was launching the Victory music album.
The show kicked off at around 8pm in the evening but by that time, the concert was long sold out. Tickets went for 10k ordinary and 50k VIP. People really could not wait for the moment. The show was dedicated to just more than having fun.
The revelers were first warmed up with perfomances from Benezeri and Levixione Lala featuring J.I, S.4j and Richy.
And finally, the host of the concert, Mc Ronnie, announced the moment everyone had been waiting for. The man of God hit the stage.
He stormed the stage running, rapping very inspiring & intelligent punch lines. And he had lady soldiers as back up dancers.
As Ruyonga rapped, giant screens behind him depicted images of children starving, marching and dying. The video was dedicated to “The Invisible Children” – the innocent souls caught in the brutal war Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army waged in northern Uganda for two decades.
Magic fired up when Maurice Kirya joined “Ru” on stage for the track “don’t wanna fight.” Enygma later followed. Big trill and JC Muyonjo as well as MoRoots also happened to share the stage on the concert.
What happened was the creation of an atmosphere charged with electric currents flowing from person to person. Actually, guys were wondering whether the show surely went for only 10k.
Ruyonga spoke about a time when he wasn’t so successful, when the only vice he didn’t have was the consumption of drugs. He urged the crowd to give their lives to Jesus and provided spiritual assistance for them to do so after the show.
Before Ruyonga’s incursion into gospel hip-hop, he preferred to be called “Krooked”. So Krooked is not crooked anymore. He’s on the straight and narrow path to super stardom, and helping his fans along the way.
All in all, it was an awesome show, because Christian or not, everyone seemed to have enjoyed the concert.
