Ugandan midfielder Martin Mutumba has revealed that that some English Premier League sides are interested in signing him after his good performance against Manchester United last week.
“Three Clubs from the Premiership have already showed interest and I cannot reveal more details on the particular clubs till something works out,” Mutumba told MTNFootball.com during an interview at the Cairo International Airport on Wednesday night.
The player was part of the Uganda Cranes team that lost 3-0 to hosts Egypt in an international friendly played at the El Gouna Stadium.
“It was a dream come true to feature against the English champions Manchester United and it was also a good feeling that I was voted one of the best players on the night together with the Manchester defender Vidic,” added the AIK midfielder, who moved to Sweden at a tender age.
Mutumba said although he is having a good time at AIK in Sweden, he would not mind crossing to England.
“I have a young family and I want to work hard for them to have a good life. I will go where there is good money and good football,” added Mutumba.
Speaking about his performance against Egypt, the player said the heat was his undoing.
“I was already very tired just after warming. How can we play football in such terribly hot conditions?” said Mutumba, who however promised to go back and work hard ahead of the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Senegal next month.
Uganda Cranes need to beat Senegal on September 7 to qualify for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers. The Cranes, under Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, beat Liberia and Angola in June to brighten their chance of qualification.
