36-Man squad shortlisted ahead of the All-Africa games

Uganda’s Under-23 head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic together with his entire technical team led by Hamid Juma have shortlisted a 36-man squad from the total of 100 players who were summoned for national team duty ahead of the All-Africa games.

The 36-man squad was revealed yesterday during the weekly press conference at the FUFA house in Mengo, Kampala. Uganda will play Mozambique in the preliminary round of qualification for the All-Africa games. During the press conference, Micho also plans of developing the sport in the country.

“We have been now giving the local League emphasis (with the various programmes of player Scouting, visiting the different clubs) continuation of Cranes Na-mutima campaign among others). Also we are looking at the development games – All Africa Games and Olympic qualifiers, CHAN Qualifier and CECAFA 2015. The third stage is that of planning for Afcon 2017, World Cup 2018 and Afcon 2019,” reads Micho’s statement on the federation’s website.

The team will continue to undergo a series of train starting Saturday 14th before shortlisting a 25-man squad that will later go into residential training at the Njeru Technical center in Jinja.

Technical team: Micho–Head Coach, Frank Video Anyau–Assistant coach, Sadick Wassa–Goal keeping coach and trainer while Patrick Ntege–Manager.

Goalkeepers: Watenga Isma (Vipers), Bugembe Ashadu (Kiira Young) and Kiyonga Mathias (Bright Stars)

Defenders: Nsubuga Joseph, Teko Derrick, Namwanja Simon, Musisi Farouk, Ochaya Joseph, Nkata Fred, Kiyemba Ibrahim, Bakaki Shafiq Lumu Isa, Kyambadde Sadat and Yunis Kibira

Midfielders: Miya Farouk, Kiwanuka Gadaffi, Kizito Keziron, Sempala Hashim, Senfuka Rahmat, Allan Kyambadde, Eturude Abel, Kirya Ambrose, Matsiko Tom

Strikers: Mcurezi Paul, William Wadri, Kasule Abdul Karim, Achema Robert, Kizza Martin, Kikoyo Hassan, Nkuubi Brian, Kigongo Ronald, Oromachan Villa, Kasumba Umaru, Nsibambi Derrick and Malingumu Julius

Mozambique VS Uganda – to be played on the weekend of 20th-22nd February, 2015 in Maputo with the return leg set for the weekend of 6-8th March –Kampala, Uganda.
