By now it’s no news that there was an eight minute blackout at the Mandela National stadium as Uganda battled it out with Guinea during the group E match of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. The blackout took players, coaches and fans into unintended break reminding us of some of the scenes in the recently concluded world cup in Brazil where players took short commercial breaks due to a lot of sunshine although this one was due to lack of power.
The black out brought the game to a halt in the 65th minute for moment, however what many have considered to be one of Uganda’s most disgraceful moments of football has been regarded as a blessing in disguise by some analysts.
Some football analysts have continued to say that Uganda cranes was under a lot of pressure from the continued and intensive attacks frequented by Guinea therefore the unintended blackout gave them a moment to take a breath which was crucial in consolidating their 2-0 lead at the time.
Some of the similar incidences that have occurred before around the globe.
