Former city socialite Shanita Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black was today denied bail to travel abroad. Court made it clear that they will be stating more reasons as to why her bail application has been cancelled next week.
Bad Black’s lawyers led by Okello Oryem applied for bail on grounds that their client has a medical history which requires attention from abroad. Okello also said that his client is a first time offender and that her offence didn’t involve the violation of rights of other people. Bad Black’s lawyer had presented two sureties, Wilson Mangeni and Fredrick both friends of the offender.
The anti-corruption court convicted Bad black of embezzlement and conspiracy to defraud David Green Halgh and his company in 2012. She was sentenced to four years in jail where she has served a year so far.
On her first attempt to seek medical attention abroad, Bad Black did not return to Uganda. She was however arrested and deported from Rwanda where she was hiding. Bad Black together with her co accused Meddie Sentongo embezzled over 11 billion shillings from her lovers company called Daveshan Development Limited.
