Events promoter-turned-politician Norbert Events has expressed deep frustration and disappointment after losing in the recently concluded NRM primaries for the position of Lord Councilor for Nsambya, Makindye Division.

Norbert, who has long aligned himself with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), claims he was unfairly robbed of victory despite his significant contributions to the party over the years.
“I have worked with NRM for a long time and contributed in many ways, but I was robbed,” Norbert stated while addressing his supporters.
He alleges that although he had widespread support across Nsambya and was voted in 77 villages, irregularities occurred during the tallying process.
“On reaching the tally center, I found my opponent Shafik Ssemujju… they had changed DR forms for 9 villages,” he said, suggesting that forged Declaration of Results forms were used to tilt the vote in his opponent’s favor.
Norbert further claims that his own agents in the disputed villages — whom he had paid Shs 10,000 each — were bribed to turn against him.
“I had given them money to protect my votes, but they were bought off. I pleaded with Gen. Salim Saleh to support me financially so I could safeguard my vote, but he failed me. I now understand I have been used all this long,” he lamented.
