Ugandan comedian Maulana, Half of ‘Maulana & Reign’ Duo,’ was apprehended today by the Uganda Police over allegations of failing to fulfill his parental responsibilities.
The arrest follows claims made by Nalugya Shubira Betty, the mother of Maulana’s three children, who accused him of neglecting his duties as a father for the past nine months.
A video obtained by our news platform shows Maulana being escorted into a Uganda Police pickup vehicle, surrounded by officers ensuring tight security.
Nalugya Shubira Betty publicly expressed her grievances, asserting that Maulana prioritizes engaging in intimate activities during his visits and provides insufficient financial support, usually a meager amount of either Ugx 10 or 5K, for childcare.
The mother of three further claimed that when she declined Maulana’s advances, he insisted on taking custody of the children, a proposition she rejected, citing their young age. The matter was subsequently brought before the family court at Mwanga II, where a final decision was reached.
According to the court’s ruling, Maulana was ordered to pay Nalugya Ugx 15K daily for childcare and contribute to their rent. While initially complying with the rent obligation for three months – specifically in June, July, and August of the previous year – Maulana has reportedly ceased fulfilling this financial responsibility.
Facing challenges in meeting the financial obligations, particularly with her children’s imminent return to school, Nalugya revealed that Maulana is currently evading capture, with the court having issued an arrest warrant.
In response to the allegations, Maulana Kasozi took to social media to defend himself. He claimed that his former spouse suffered from a mental disorder and disclosed that she had allegedly attempted to poison both of them. Maulana emphasized his inability to continue a relationship under such circumstances.
