The Catholic community of Makerere University has today bid farewell to its longest serving chaplain Rev Dr. Lawrence Kanyike after 30 years of service as a chaplain at the university Catholic chapel.
The thanksgiving mass at St Augustine chapel was presided over by Metropolitan archbishop of Kampala Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at 10.30pm.
He has served for 30 years and is arguably the most influential chaplain in the catholic community. He helped the church to acquire land at the University. He has been replaced by Rev. Fr. Josephat Ddungu as the new Chaplain St Augustine Chapel Makerere.
He is liked by many and will be remember for his promotion of catholicism.
