Nelly has spoken out about Madonna’s recent use of the N-word, saying the singer “f**ked up”.
The 55-year-old popstar caused controversy earlier this month when she posted a photo of son Rocco Ritchie boxing, alongside the caption: “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disni**a.”
When TMZ asked Nelly for his thoughts on the incident as he left a Grammys party last night (January 26), the rapper replied: “Madonna f**ked up. She needs to get her s**t right.”
Nelly also pointed out that the singer had apologised and said she had learnt the “error of her ways”.
Madonna initially slammed the “haters” who criticised her comments, by reposting the image with the caption: “Ok let me start this again. #get off of my d*ck haters!”
She later released a formal statement apologising for the incident.
She wrote on Facebook: “I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram.
“It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word.
“It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white.
“I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologise if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.”
Nelly recently defended Miley Cyrus against criticism she has received over her recent behaviour, saying that the 21-year-old isn’t hurting anyone.
