Nigerian is arguably one of the leading countries when it comes to having artistes whose sounds are allover Africa and some parts of the world. After singers like Wizkid, Tekno, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Simi, Patoranking, Burna Boy and Rudeboy among others. In this lockdown, another name from the Nigerian music industry has popped up and all eyes and ears are on the music stars songs.
Oxlade whose real names are Ikuforiji Abdulrahman Olaitan is an upcoming star in Nigeria who hit the scene with OXYGENE, an Extended Play (EP) album that was released on March 27 2020. The 6 truck EP that was produced by Spax the producer got some of the songs like ‘Away’ standing out.
During an interview with one of the Nigerian leading media, Oxlade said that his music and style has been compared to artistes like Wande Coal and Wizkid and he went on to say that I was okay because the two are great stars in Nigeria.
The EP that has already been embraced by Ugandans who are big fans of West African music has songs like O2, Away, Hold On, Kokose, the uplifting Tables Turn and Weakness. According to Oxlade, O2 was recorded as an inspiration driven after his break up from his ex who left him just before he hit the stage with Wizkid at the famous O2 arena in London.
Oxlade at the beginning of his career collaborated with Fireboy DML on a song titled Sing. Fireboy whose music is hitting in Uganda was meant to perform this year but because of the global pandemic, the singers Ugandan concert was moved to a later date.
