Milutin Micho Sredojevic satisfied with Uganda’s performance despite their Cecafa Cup quarterfinal exit.
The Cranes failed to defend their title after losing 3-2 on post-match penalties to Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Stars on Saturday afternoon in the first quarterfinal played at the Mombasa National Stadium.
“I cannot say I am bitter because we failed to defend the title. I am rather happy with the way the players conducted themselves and also responded to situations as they prepare for the 2014 Africa nations Championship,” Micho told MTNFootball.com in an exclusive interview on Saturday night.
“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”
The Serbian-born coach said it was also good that he had 80 per cent of the players who will comprise his 2014 CHAN team getting good match practice and exposure at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.
Micho said there are many positive aspects picked from the tournament.
The Cranes won three, scored seven goals and conceded two before losing their final game on spot-kicks in Kenya.
Micho said although many people were expecting the team to retain the trophy, they failed, but have learnt a lot especially for the young players.
“Even players like Khalid Aucho who was having his first go with the national team and Daniel Sserunkuma who do not qualify for the CHAN competition will widen our pool of players when we start the 2015 Afcon qualifiers,” added Micho.
