The highly billed annual kids’ green fest, the Superstar Green Xmas Party is promising to be a bigger affair this year.
Social entrepreneur Joseph Masembe, the proprietor of My Kid is Superstar, has got the endorsement of Uganda’s greatest living athlete Stephen Kiprotich who joined the promotional team of the event to boost the drive to the December 15th event in Kololo.
Kiprotich this week ran and posed for photos with children. He promised to attend the festival in person.
“He will give advice to kids on how to keep fit and be superstar athletes,” Masembe, dubbed the superstar general, said.
Kiprotich offered 2,000 fruit tree seedlings for children who every year plants their favourite fruit tree. And donated 5,000 bottles of AquaSipi mineral water, a company to which he is the brand ambassador.
My Kid is a Superstar organizes three events every year. In the first term holiday, they start with a talent search that culminates in taking four lucky finalists to Disneyland. The talent search among other things discovers the musical, dance, acting, spelling, fashion, talents of children.
In the second term holiday, there is a green festival where children attend the party that celebrates nature and promotes conservation by planting trees country wide. So far, about 55,000 trees have been planted by children.
The December festival is a combination of all because it brings together the kid stars and their peers to the festival that imitates Disneyland where children enjoy maximum fun. The Kololo airstrip is filled with bouncing castles, artificial swimming pools; party games, Big Ben and Spiderman kind of characters, performances from the artistes’ children love the most. The zoo which brings an aura of animal planet, among others, is also there for children to see. Children love it.
Last year, President Museveni was among the guests that graced the event. Toro kingdom’s Omukama Oyo Kabamba Iguru has in the past supported the green festival by planting trees with children.
