Facebookers have been entertained with a free show this morning as media whizzes Henry Ssali of Matooke Republic and Timothy Kalyegira of The Kampala Express Newspaper exchanged ‘blows’ over a news article that appeared on the Matooke Republic website.
Timothy complained that he was not offered a platform to respond to the sexual harassment allegations made against him by Doreen Baingana, published by Matooke Republic, the a free newspaper and website.
He questioned whether the editors of the website having been former Daily Monitor employees didn’t develop the instinct of fairness and giving a voice to both sides to share their side of the story.
As the proprietor of the website responded to Timothy, more and more people got involved including tycoon Sudhir who issued a statement about his role at Matooke republic.
Before long, NTV Uganda’s Sheila Nduhukire was also dragged into the fight.
“One more thing that intrigues me about you Mr Kalyegira; you have disdain for Ugandans calling them mediocre, simple minds, buffoons and generally not intellectuals. What is intellectual about the endless images of NTV’s Sheila Nduhukire that you publish day in day out on your newspaper (sorry I meant Facebook page). Your “paper” is supposed to be oozing intellectualism not Sheila Nduhukire’s photos,” Henry posted.
“I had chosen not to make further response to Mr. Timothy Kalyegira after exhausting our defence to his complaints in my earlier post. The ownership issue he claimed has also been addressed by both myself and Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, so I expected him to go back to his duties of taking Sheila Nduhukire’s photos for Kampala Express,” Henry added in a separate post.
Both Sheila Nduhukire and Timothy are yet to comment about this matter.
We will keep you posted.
