Texting is a huge part of our daily lives. We use texting to make memories, share secrets, send complex late-night film ideas. So why are you erasing all of them?
If you’re looking to back up and save the texts on your Android, look no further than this gallery. Here, we’ve compiled eight reliable ways to keep a record of your texts.
1. SMS Backup +
This free app stores texts in your Gmail account, making them searchable and accessible wherever there’s an Internet connection.
2. My Backup Pro
Back up and restore text messages, calendars, MMS files — basically every bit of data on your phone — with this app, available on Google Play for $4.99.
3. MySMS
MySMS is a standalone messaging app that will replace your current one. Like Apple’s iMessage, the app uses your Wi-Fi connection to send messages for free, if your friend uses it as well. You can keep a record of all texts on any device with MySMS installed, and there’s even a port for backup on Evernote.
4. Google Voice
When signing up for Google Voice — available in limited areas around the globe — you receive a new phone number, connected to your Google account, which you can use to text friends free of charge. All texts are then stored in a folder much like your emails, for you to access and search through whenever you like.
5. Moborobo
Once installed, Moborobo allows you to send and receive SMS messages through your PC, keeping a log as you go
6. SMS Backup & Restore
Schedule periodic XML file backups of your SMS messages, with SMS Backup & Restore. With an add-on, you can email or upload those backup files to Dropbox or Google Drive
7. Uppidy
Save texts, videos and pictures to the cloud with the Uppidy app, available for free on Google Play. We like the ability to keep our favorite messaging app when using Uppidy, and the real time syncing to Evernote.
8. Super Backup
Super Backup allows for scheduled backups, customizable conversation selection (so you can choose what to store and what to toss) and the ability to save messages to your phone’s SD card.
