Disney Animated
On Thursday, Disney released Disney Animated, a new iPad app created as part of a collaboration between Disney Interactive, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Touch Press. The app offers a behind-the-scenes look at 52 Disney films with never-before-seen footage and tools to inspire a new generation of animators.
Instagram updated to version 4.1 this week, adding the ability to share videos from your phone’s photo library on the service. iOS users now also have access to a new automatic-straightening technology for their photos. What’s more, video on Instagram is now available to Android users running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
LinkedIn added an update this week that makes it easier to apply for jobs on the site using your smartphone. The update adds an “Apply” button and a “Save Job” button to each listing. After tapping Apply, the app offers the option to edit your LinkedIn profile, and update your contact information.
Toon Hero

The app has many different characters available to star in your film — including those by Jim Henson — and animations are created by simply dragging and dropping content on the screen.
Messaging app WhatsApp started rolling out voice messaging on Wednesday. Similar to voice messaging using Facebook Messenger, the new feature allows you to record a short audio clip and send it to a friend. To send a message, simply press on the record button. Once the button is released, the message is on its way.
Twitter updated its iOS and Android apps on Tuesday, adding social context and photo galleries into search results, as well as several improvements to login verification. Now when you perform a search using Twitter’s mobile app, the menu will show how you connect — if at all — to other users whose tweets appear in results.
Photo galleries now also appear in search. When viewing photos in the results, a “view more photos” option lets you see a gallery of all of the photos related to your search, rather than forcing you to swipe through individual thumbnails.
Facebook for Android and BlackBerry
Facebook updated its Android app this week, adding the ability to save photos to your phone from the photo viewer.
Facebook for BlackBerry also saw a refresh this week. The latest version of the app has a new look, enhanced Page Admin functions and new Facebook Chat options.
