Driving the Hummer, the new Bebe Cool almost ran into the old Bebe of 2003 who was comfortably playing reggae in his prado at a parking yard’s entrance. Both came out fuming and charged to deal with each other.
The Bebe of 2003 clenched his fist, the Kokodiosis Bebe pulled out a smart phone ready to make a Facebook post. They belonged to different generations yet dripped profusely with an even amount of ego. Recognizing each other, they smiled, hugged and had a conversation.
You could see the admiration between the two. They looked like identical twins that had grown from different continents. The Kokodiosis one looked American, the Awete Bebe looked African.
OLD BEBE: Am going to Bobi Wine’s house in Kamwokya. I called Chamelone but he is supervising the construction of his house in Seguku.
NEW BEBE: Haha Tomalira budde! Politicians are on my case! I don’t tolerate nonsense when it comes to judging talent.
The two were like lost friends trying to reignite old flames. Times had changed but the glaring similarity undeniable! Both driving big toys, the status symbols of their time. Both had Zuena as wallpaper.
Then the phone rang, the same number that called every month. The Bebe of 2003 had sent chilling shivers down the callers’ spine when he took a copy of his mansion’s architectural plan to the press. He thought he had lost his celebrity tenant.
Ten years later, status quo remains.
Musically, strides away. The Bebe of 2003 mentioned Gagamel in his songs. The one of 2013 lives the dream.
