A goal in each half helped 16-time record champions SC Villa overcome a very strong Rwenshama side  who were not willing to go down without a fight until the final minutes of the game.

Goals from Erisa Sekisambu and dangerous substitute Augustine Nsumba were enough for Villa to condemn KJT Rwenshama to a 2-1 defeat in the Nakivubo Derby since both sides host their home games at the same stadium.

Despite a rejuvenated KJT looking ready for the fight, Villa still looked the better side, not just on paper in terms player quality but also portrayed it very well on the pitch as they tormented their home rivals.

The intensity of the game saw Villa’s head coach Omulangira Sam Simbwa introduce Nigerian strike Victor Emenayo for Joseph Kayiira in the first half. In the 37th minute, the Blues broke the deadlock through industrious striker Erias Ssekisambu who slotted the ball into the back of the net from Chrizestom Ntambi’s through pass.

Villa carried on their lead until half time but after recess, Rwenshama’s Deogratious Ochola scored the equalizer in the 70th minute. He also scored in Rwenshama’s 2-0 win over Simba in the opening game of the season’s second round.

Tension continued to rise between the two sides with the game destined for a stalemate but substitute Augustine Nsumba had other ideas when he brushed off the winner from Ntambi’s corner in the dying minutes of the game to send SC Villa top of the Uganda Premier League table with 39 points from 17 games.
